• Have your students write their own poem in the style of the poem that you are reading. For example, my seniors have read Spencer's nad Shakespeare's sonnets, and wrote their own sonnet using one of the two rhyme schemes.

This is one of my favorite poetry sites. You can search for any poet and find some of his/her best poems. There is a book store to peruse. One of the highlights of this website is the "poet spotlight", which showcases exciting new poets. Another cool highlight is the link for educators. When you click on it, you can get tips on how to teach poetry, formulate units and a plethora of other teacher resources.
